DKH Academy, established in 1979, is a private school serving the educational needs of children ages two and a half to seven. DKH strives to offer the highest quality preschool education the area and promotes the philosophy of Dr. Arnold Gesell, as well as the theories of Jean Piaget and Maria Montessori, in order to develop the whole child intellectually, emotionally, physically and socially.
The Director, Shelley Easler, has teaching certificates in Early Childhood, Kindergarten, and 1st - 8th Grades. She also has her Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology. Since 1980, Mrs. Easler has been extremely dedicated in the education of young children. The staff is made up of experienced, degreed teachers who frequently attend seminars and workshops promoting excellence in the education of the young child.

DKH Academy offers a developmentally sound program. Special attention is given to building self-esteem through multi-sensory learning experiences. Each classroom is equipped with a variety of "hands-on" activities that are especially appropriate for the unit of study. Language arts, math, physical science, social science and creative art experiences are incorporated into thematic units. Weekly Spanish classes are offered as part of the curriculum for all 4 year old and kindergarten classes. A professional performing arts group performs monthly. Parties, field trips and special programs top off an exciting experience-rich program.
