Position Overview

DKH Academy is seeking a nurturing, collaborative educator to support children during the earliest and most formative years of development.

Early Childhood Lead Teachers work with students ranging from toddlers through Pre-K and help create calm, engaging classroom environments where young children feel safe, known, supported, and inspired to learn. Through play, movement, exploration, routines, and meaningful relationships, teachers help children build confidence, independence, communication skills, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
• Plan meaningful hands-on learning experiences rooted in play and exploration
• Foster children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• Collaborate closely with assistant teachers and school leadership
• Support classroom routines, transitions, outdoor learning, and daily care
• Communicate regularly with families regarding classroom experiences and student growth
• Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative planning opportunities

Qualifications

• Degree in education, child development, or related field preferred
• Experience working with young children
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Warm, patient, and relationship-centered approach to teaching
• Passion for play-based early childhood education
• CPR and First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire

This position works closely alongside the Lead Teacher to help create a warm, responsive environment where children feel supported, encouraged, and cared for throughout the day. Assistant Teachers are active participants in the classroom community and help maintain a calm, nurturing environment where young children can thrive.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom routines and daily activities
• Assist with classroom setup, organization, and preparation
• Help maintain a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment
• Support children during play, meals, transitions, outdoor learning, and rest times
• Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff
• Collaborate closely with Lead Teachers and school leadership
• Assist with maintaining classroom cleanliness and organization

Qualifications

• Experience working with children preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Warm, dependable, and patient personality

Early Elementary teachers guide students through strong academic foundations while preserving the curiosity, creativity, confidence, and joy that define childhood. Classrooms balance hands-on learning, social-emotional development, foundational literacy and math instruction, critical thinking, creativity, and meaningful student relationships.

Our Early Elementary program values both academic excellence and whole-child development. We are seeking educators who are engaging, organized, reflective, collaborative, and passionate about helping children become confident learners and kind community members.

Responsibilities

• Support foundational literacy, math, science, and social-emotional growth

Substitute Teacher (Lead & Assistant)
Toddlers through 2nd Grade

Position Overview

DKH Academy is seeking dependable, nurturing Substitute Teachers to join our school community. Our substitute teachers provide classroom coverage for both Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers, helping ensure each classroom continues to feel calm, engaging, and relationship-centered whenever a team member is away.

Our substitutes become familiar faces within the school and play an important role in maintaining the routines, relationships, and sense of belonging that define the DKH Academy experience. Depending on the needs of the day, substitutes step into either a lead or assistant role while supporting toddlers, preschoolers, and our early elementary students.

This position is ideal for educators seeking a flexible schedule while remaining connected to a high-quality school community. We welcome experienced teachers, retired educators, college students pursuing education, and individuals who enjoy working with children in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Many of our substitute teachers become long-term members of the DKH Academy team. As future teaching opportunities become available, substitute teachers are often among the first candidates we consider.

Responsibilities

• Step into classrooms and confidently follow established daily routines and lesson plans
• Create a warm, safe, and engaging environment for children
• Support learning through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
• Assist with classroom transitions, meals, outdoor learning, and daily activities
• Collaborate with teachers and school leadership to ensure a smooth classroom experience

Schedule

Substitute Teachers work on an as-needed basis. Assignments range from half-day to full-day coverage and vary throughout the school year.
