NAEYC Week of the Young Child

Celebrating the Week of the Young Child at DKH Academy

Last month, DKH Academy joined schools and early childhood programs across the country in celebrating the Week of the Young Child, an annual event led by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Founded in 1971, the Week of the Young Child highlights the importance of high-quality early childhood education and recognizes the unique ways young children learn and grow through hands-on experiences, relationships, creativity, movement, and play.

As a NAEYC-accredited school, these values are deeply connected to who we are at DKH. Every classroom experience is designed to support the whole child through meaningful learning opportunities that nurture social, emotional, physical, and academic growth.

Throughout the week, our students explored daily themes including Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday. Classrooms across campus were filled with singing, cooking, collaborative projects, sensory experiences, movement activities, and opportunities for students to create together.

At DKH, play is never separate from learning. It is how children build confidence, solve problems, strengthen relationships, express creativity, and make sense of the world around them.

We loved celebrating this special week with our students, teachers, and families and reflecting on the joy, curiosity, and connection that define early childhood.

Good beginnings never end.
