Ribbon Cutting Ceremony | Dee Seal Motor Lab

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony | Dee Seal Motor Lab

Students, families, alumni, and former teachers gathered together to celebrate the opening of the Dee Seal Motor Lab and honor the lasting legacy of DKH founder Dee Seal.

On April 17, the DKH community gathered at our Nature Explore Stage for a meaningful celebration in the story of our school.

Together, students, families, alumni, former teachers, and special guests celebrated the opening of the Dee Seal Motor Lab, a new space designed to support movement, coordination, confidence, sensory exploration, and gross motor development for children of all ages.

The event also honored the legacy of our founder, Dee Seal, whose vision and love for children continue to shape DKH Academy more than four decades after founding the school in 1979.

Members of Dee’s family traveled to campus for the celebration alongside alumni families and former DKH teachers, making the event feel both joyful and deeply personal. Throughout the evening, stories, memories, and connections reminded us how many lives have been touched by the DKH community over the years.

Our students played a special role in the ceremony as they helped hold ribbons during the ribbon cutting and participated in a butterfly release at the Nature Explore Stage. Butterflies were especially meaningful to Dee and served as a symbol of growth, change, and new beginnings.

At DKH, movement and play are an important part of how children learn. The Dee Seal Motor Lab creates new opportunities for students to build strength, coordination, body awareness, confidence, and independence through hands-on movement experiences designed specifically for early childhood learners.

As DKH continues to grow, we remain rooted in the values Dee believed in most: nurturing childhood, building strong relationships, supporting families, and creating spaces where children feel known, encouraged, and inspired to learn.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this special celebration and look forward to the memories future students will create in the Dee Seal Motor Lab for years to come.

Good beginnings never end.
